Joanne E. Gerhart passed away peacefully Monday, November 27, 2023, in LifeCare Hospice in Wooster surrounded by her family. She was 63.

She was born on June 5, 1960, to her parents Thomas & Betty (Varga) Schwartz in Mansfield, Ohio. After Joanne graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1978, she married John Gerhart on December 1, 1979. The pair were married for 44 years. Later Joanne and John moved to the Loudonville area around 1990.

Joanne’s life was centered around her family and her grandchildren, and loved spending her spare time with them. A few of Joanne’s favorite things were dirt track races, collecting nick-nacks, and spending time at her pool. She was also known for her willingness to help others and would give the shirt off her back to those in need.

She is survived by her husband John Gerhart; her sons John (Annette Kline) Gerhart Jr, Jeremy Gerhart, and Jack Gerhart; her grandchildren Tyler (Valerie) Book, Gage Gerhart, Liberty Gerhart, Khloe Gerhart, Karter Gerhart, and Gabriel Gerhart; her brothers Tom Schwartz and Frank (Karen) Schwartz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Holston.

A Celebration of Life in Joanne’s memory will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the clubhouse in October Hills Campground, outside of Loudonville on Wally Road.
