Edgar Gerstheimer 

Mansfield - Edgar Gerstheimer, age 61, passed away June 16, 2021 in the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after a brief hospitalization. Edgar was born in Mansfield, Ohio and had spent time living in Mansfield and Millersburg, Ohio during his life. 

Edgar was a graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School in the class of 1978. He went on to study at Miami University as a chemistry major. Edgar enjoyed reading, playing chess, and having thoughtful conversations with people. He loved animals - especially dogs - and caring for plants. People that knew Edgar knew him to be a strong and determined person and a loyal friend. 

He is survived by four siblings: one brother, Leo Gerstheimer of Mansfield, Ohio, and three sisters, Sandra (Alfredo) Ramirez of Westerville, Ohio, Anita (Juan) Ramirez of Ashland, Ohio, and Gerda (Scott) Sadler of Pickerington, Ohio. He was also a loving uncle to four nieces and one nephew: Amy, Emily, Katie, Juan, and Anna. Additionally, Edgar is survived by one aunt, Eva J. Gerstheimer of Mansfield, and many extended family members in Canada, Germany, and Switzerland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Eva (Ritzmann) Gerstheimer, and one sister, Benita Ruth Gerstheimer. 

A graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mansfield Cemetery.
