In Memory

Steve M Durig

Steve Durig

Mansfield - Steve Durig, age 60, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at OhioHealth Hospital in Mansfield.

Stephen Mark Durig was the son of Thomas & Mary Durig and graduated from Madison High School. Throughout his life, he worked as a journeyman die cutter for Garber's in Ashland and retired in March of 2019 from Thompson Paper in Loudonville.

Steve absolutely loved the lake life. He lived on Lake Maria and enjoyed camping, fishing, and cruising around on his golf cart to say 'hi' to his friends and neighbors who were more like family. He looked forward to the days his son and grandkids would spend extended time with him in the summer and those were his favorite memories. Above all, his son Stevie was his pride and joy and he treasured being a Grandpa.

A bit of a jokester, Steve will be remembered for his love of family, and his easygoing personality. A loving father, a proud grandpa, a loyal brother, and a goofy uncle, Steve was also a true friend and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his son Stephen "Stevie" Durig (Brandi) of Ashland; grandchildren Landon, Breena, Olivea, Taylor, Justin, and Kale; sister Sandy (Danny) Mitchell; brother-in-law Mark Blust; along with numerous nieces nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, & his extended family at Lake Maria.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Tom Durig and sister Sharon Blust.

The family will host a public Celebration of Life service at the Lake Maria Rec Hall (370 Vanderbilt Road in Mansfield) on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Join the family in a toast to Steve's memory at 7:00 PM.
